With just three weeks remaining before the 2024 WGI Color Guard World Championships, a strong roster of 62 guards gathered near Atlanta to compete and obtain judges feedback before
putting the finishing touches on their programs.
Numerous units scored into the upper 80s, while two Independent World guards stood out and achieved scores above 90 points. Defending WGI champion Paramount (Atlanta, GA) scored 94.00 in prelims (93.725 in finals),
establishing the guard as a contender for another gold medal in Dayton, OH. Etude (Rock Hill, SC) is having a stellar season, scoring 91.80 in prelims (92.385 in finals) which puts the guard within reach of a medal in Dayton as well.
Alta Marea (Tuscaloosa, AL) led Independent Open (87.40 prelims / 88.275 finals) and Oviedo H.S. (FL) led Scholastic Open (86.10 prelims / 87.255 finals).
Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA) led Independent A class with 89.280 in prelims (90.875 in finals), while Lexington HS (SC) rose to the top of a large and competitive Scholastic A class with 87.425 in finals.
Guard members now have their eyes on Dayton where the
WGI Color Guard World Championships are set for April 11-13.
