(February 26, 2022, Lebanon, Tennessee)
Strong performances at this early-season contest provide optimism that indoor color guards are thriving after two years where contests had been held virtually or canceled altogether.
The 44 guards from nine states presented largely complete shows, and many performers already displayed confidence that often develops later in the season.
In the competitive Independent A class, standouts included Reverie A (Atlanta, GA) which scored a whopping 89.25 in prelims (89.75 at finals), and the talented Divenire Winter Guard (Birmingham, AL) which scored 83.78 in prelims (84.24 in finals).
Alta Marea Winterguard (Tuscaloosa, AL) broke into the 80s in Independent Open class, as did six units in the Scholastic classes.
This is only the fourth weekend of in-person WGI events since the season came to an abrupt end due to COVID-19 in March 2020. Guard members now have their eyes on Dayton, Ohio, where the
WGI Color Guard World Championships are set to return April 7-9.
Photo highlights of the #wginashville event, featuring 18 units from the second half of prelims, are pictured here in no particular order. For complete results visit
