Quality runs deep this season, and the prelims contest made it clear that the medal race will continue all the way to finals night. At prelims the top two corps were separated by a mere
1-tenth of a point, and four different corps received first place scores from the panel of 11 judges (five judges had Bluecoats first, three had Blue Devils first, two had Carolina Crown first, and one had Santa Clara Vanguard first).
For the first time in recent memory, all 22 world class corps advanced to semi-finals, and are joined by open class units Spartans, Legends and Gold to round out the top 25 roster.
