(August 9-11, 2018, Indianapolis, Indiana)
Although no corps was undefeated this year, Santa Clara Vanguard started strong and established itself as the front-runner by early July. It was a year where fans
and judges agreed on first place and the cheering crowd was already standing a full minute before SCV had completed its Saturday night finals performance. This is the seventh gold medal
for SCV and its first since 1999. Another big story of 2018 was Mandarins which accomplished the nearly impossible task of breaking into the Top 12 for the first time, reaching tenth place.
Other highlights: Boston Crusaders placed fifth to match its best-ever finish; Music City rose to 21st place during its first season as a world class unit; and Gold placed 23rd to achieve a Top 25 ranking for the first time.
