The 2019 Macy's Parade telecast will kick off with a special opening number featuring the cast and Muppets of Sesame Street. NEW YORK (Nov. 22, 2019) — As the nation gathers to celebrate and give thanks with family and friends, the biggest spectacle of the holiday season returns when the 93rd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade travels the streets of New York City on Thursday, November 28 at 9:00 AM.

This year's celebration will kick off with a must-see opening number featuring a who's who of actors, singers and dancers, all joined by the cast and Muppets of Sesame Street. The first hour of the national broadcast will also include a special performance by Celine Dion who will debut a song from her new album. New balloons joining the lineup include Astronaut Snoopy, Green Eggs and Ham, and SpongeBob SquarePants & Gary. Fan favorite heritage balloon Smokey Bear will once again fly over Manhattan in celebration of his 75th birthday.

More than 8,000 participants donning costumes, handling giant balloons or striking up the band will travel through Manhattan at the sound of the time-honored phrase, "Let's Have a Parade." With an audience of 3.5 million along the parade route and 50 million viewing the nationwide telecast, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is the nation's most beloved holiday pageant. The parade lineup for 2019 features 16 giant character balloons; 11 marching bands; 26 floats; 1,000 clowns; 1,200 cheerleaders and dancers; 40 novelty balloons; plus a host of celebrity performers.

Ahead of the parade, the national broadcast will showcase the Radio City Rockettes and the casts of Broadway shows Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of The Temptations, Beetlejuice, Hadestown, and Tina - The Tina Turner Musical.

To give fans another unique viewing opportunity, Macy's, along with NBCUniversal and Verizon will once again take viewers closer to the magic via up close and personal views of the event through a 360-degree livestream of the parade on Verizon's YouTube page.
