Dutch band Adest Musica to perform during World Band Festival Luzern

Marching musicians putting field show on stage in Switzerland

Adest Musica is adapting its field show for an indoor stage performance at the 2010 World Band Festival Luzern in Switzerland. SASSENHEIM, The Netherlands — Adest Musica, the internationally known drum and show band from The Netherlands, will join bands from around the world in October 2010 for the World Band Festival in Luzern, Switzerland.

Although Adest Musica is most often found on the field or street, for this performance the band will be appearing on a theatre stage. The size limitations meant the band staff had to create a special show exclusively for this event.

World Band Festival Luzern Switzerland "Our field show obviously wouldn't fit on a theatre stage measuring 14 by 19 yards," said band spoksperson Ewout Claassen. "Adest Musica is constantly looking for new experiences, and the invitation from Switzerland was very welcome to our 55 musicians."

The stage show will mix movement with a unique repertoire of different musical styles, including the funky "Chameleon" from Herbie Hancock, "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen and "Feeling Good" by singer Michael Bublé. The drum line will be featured by performing some traditional Swiss snare techniques.

The World Band Festival Luzern Tattoo on Stage features marching, music and brilliant lighting effects in a theatre setting. The performances will be part of the World Band Festival's "Tattoo on Stage," which will be presented three times in a 1,900-seat venue in the Swiss mountains. Other bands scheduled to perform include the Moscow Military Academy from Russia and the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines from Scotland.

The World Band Festival Luzern attracts 25,000 spectators to the city for events that take place over eight days. A wide variety of musical styles are presented with various ensembles performing classical, jazz, big band, swing, folk, pop and more.
