Welcome Home
To all who served in Vietnam we thank you for your service and your sacrifice. We welcome you home each year with a parade in your honor. The National Vietnam Veterans Day Parade takes place each March 29th to pay tribute to those who served our nation for the cause of freedom and liberty.
Honolulu and its historic Waikiki beach serves as a perfect host and backdrop for this important commemoration and welcome home. For many of our honored Vietnam Veterans, Hawaii was the last American soil they saw before their life was cut short in Vietnam. In many cases, Hawaii was also the first American soil they stepped foot upon when coming home.
Marching bands, veterans' groups, military units, as well as many community groups from Hawaii and the mainland take part in this important "living memorial" in front of thousands of enthusiastic spectators in Waikiki. Bands will not only march in the parade, but they will be an integral part of the Official Public Ceremony, performing as part of the mass band led by the Marine Forces Pacific Band.
The parade route takes bands from historic Fort DeRussy, along the iconic King Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki, to Kapiolani Park at the foot of Diamond Head Crater. This event will truly be an experience of a lifetime for your group. Your band's participation will do much to show the deep appreciation we all have for the men and women of our armed forces, our veterans, and their families.
A live webcast, featuring the opening ceremony and parade, takes place each March 29, beginning at 4:30 PM Hawaii time (6:30 Pacific/9:30 Eastern) at
