* 2026 Event Canceled Due To Weather *

With heavy hearts, the Tri-State Band Committee announced the cancellation of the 75th Annual Tri-State Band Festival due to impending weather and the safety concerns it presents for students, directors, families, volunteers, and visitors. They know how much time and energy has gone into making this milestone year so memorable, and the decision does not come lightly.

Now celebrating its remarkable 75th year, Luverne's Tri-State Band Festival is the longest-running marching band festival in the region. The annual parade and field competition draws bands from Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota with more than 2,500 students participating.

The 2026 lineup features 20 participating bands, with 14 bands performing in the parade and 9 performing on the field. Note that for 2026, due to road construction on the usual Main Street route, this year's parade will be held at Luverne High School. The afternoon field competition is held at the Luverne High School athletic field.

Luverne is located in the southwest corner of Minnesota, just 30 minutes east of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. One of Luverne's famous attractions is the Blue Mounds State Park which features beautiful campsites, prairie hiking trails, and the only state-owned herd of bison.

As of September 1, 2026.
