A floral float titled "Manually Controlled Elephant" was the sweepstakes winner of the 2007 Bloemencorso Zundert, one of The Netherlands' largest flower parades. This video clip shows the colorful giant, which was created by the all-volunteer Stuivezand civic group. Twelve people push the float from behind (there is no vehicle underneath) while another dozen riders control the animated movement.

Parades featuring creative floral floats are popular in the flower-producing regions of Belgium and The Netherlands. The parades are known not only for beautiful flowers, but also for the music and costumed performers that are an important part of each float's theme. This video features highlights of the 2006 Bloemencorso Zundert, one of Europe's largest flower parades.

Many parade bands in the upper midwest perform creative street shows, and they gather for the Vikingland Band Festival parade marching championship in Alexandria, Minnesota. Park Center H.S. from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota won the Grand Champion title in 2007. This low-resolution clip features Park Center's performance as seen on the event's official DVD which uses multiple cameras and aerial views. The 2007 Drum Corps International competitive season opens June 16 and culminates with the championship finals in Pasadena on August 11. Long-time drum corps fans will remember when "all-star" corps were organized to appear in major televised parades. Check out this clip featuring the 1994 All-Star Drum and Bugle Corps in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Drum Corps Japan held its championship in Yokohama on January 28, 2007. This indoor event featured seven units in finals, with the Yokohama Inspires narrowly defeating the Yokohama Scouts by a score of 91.95 to 91.15. The Inspires' extended version of Malagueña earned top brass, visual and color guard. The Scouts earned high percussion. View a video of the Inspires below.

The 2007 season is proving to be a wild ride for the Page H.S. Winter Drum Line from Franklin, Tennessee. Page has become accustomed to first place wins, and on March 24 the group was promoted to Scholastic World Class after scoring 92.3 in Open Class.

The Clovis West H.S. Winter Drum Line from Fresno, California is performing a creative show titled +/- Magnets +/-. The ensemble scored 85.3 to earn second place in PSW class at the Southern California Percussion Alliance show on March 10.
