After a successful debut last year, the Osseo Marching Band Festival returns in 2008 with a fine lineup of high school marching bands in street marching competition. The parade will pass though the historic streets of the quaint, 100+ year-old city of Osseo. This is the newest bands-only parade in Minnesota, and the first in the northwest Minneapolis metro area.

New for 2008, the parade route has been shortened to less than one mile. The parade will start near the Osseo Elementary school and end at the Osseo Senior High School. A route map is posted online at OsseoBandFestival.org. Judging will take place near the intersection of 2nd Street NE and 2nd Avenue NE, which offers more width than last year's judging zone. A panel of six judges is being provided by Tri-State Band Judges.

The first 10 bands to register each receive a travel stipend of $300. Trophies are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each of three classes with prize money of $500, $300 and $200 respectively. Participation plaques are presented to bands not placing in the top three. Trophies are also awarded for Best Colorguard, Best Winds, Best Drumline and Grand Champion.

Looking for a weekend (or longer) trip for your band? The Osseo Marching Band Festival Committee is available to help with arrangements and can recommend a preferred group tour company. Gymnasium housing is available. Everything in Minneapolis/St. Paul is near Osseo ... hotels, waterslides, Mall of America, science museum, performing arts activities and more. March well, play hard!
